SCORE Baja 1000
The legendary off-road desert race. In 2026 it runs entirely within Baja California Sur for the first time, starting and finishing in Los Cabos.
Baja Series (Liga Mexicana del Pacífico)
A preseason exhibition series bringing Mexican Pacific League baseball teams to La Paz.
Atlético La Paz Home Matches
Second-division professional soccer (Liga de Expansión MX) at Estadio Guaycura.
Triathlons & Off-Road Races
La Paz hosts a busy calendar of triathlons and off-road races through the year (Triatlón El Caimancito, night off-road races, trail runs in El Triunfo). Dates shift annually — check the live calendar below.
YEARLY TRADITIONS
Carnaval La Paz
One of Mexico's most celebrated Carnaval events — parades, costumed processions, contests, free concerts. Held the 3 days before Ash Wednesday each year, so exact dates shift with the church calendar (2026: Feb 12–17).
Día del Niño (Children's Day)
A national holiday for kids — expect family events and activities around town.
Mexican Independence Day
September 15–16 — national holiday, city-wide celebrations.
Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead)
November 1–2 — altars, cultural events.
Mexican Revolution Day
November 20 — national holiday.

Pueblo Mágico about 50 miles south of La Paz — arts scene, the original Hotel California.
Los Barriles
Relaxed seaside base on the Sea of Cortez, a natural jumping-off point for El Triunfo and Todos Santos.
Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park
About 2.5–3 hours from La Paz on the way toward Cabo San Lucas — one of only three living coral reefs in North America, 5,000 years old, with world-class snorkeling and diving. A great stop on the way back to Cabo. The Hook can arrange tours here too — just ask.
